Occupy LA Speaker Calls Gandhi A 'Tumor', Pushes For Violent 'Revolution'

Ultimately violence will be necessary, says Occupy L.A. speaker - Pt2 10/01/2011 by ringospictures on YouTube

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A protester with the Occupy Los Angeles movement near City Hall was caught on camera advocating what he called "bloody" and "violent means" to advance the cause of the nearly month-old protests.

In a video posted on YouTube on Oct. 2, an unnamed speaker rejects another speaker's call for a nonviolent protest.

"No, my friend," he said. "The French Revolution made fundamental transformation. But it was bloody."

The protester also took aim at one of the most iconic political leaders of the 20th century.

"Gandhi today is a tumor that the ruling class is using constantly to mislead us...India, the result of Gandhi, is 600 million people living in maximum property," he said.

"So ultimately, the bourgeoisie won't go without violent means," he continued, at which point someone in the crowd shouted, "Revolution!"

The protester then ended his speech with "Long live revolution! Long live socialism!"

The Occupy protests have spread rapidly across the U.S., including the group at City Hall in downtown LA along with Orange County and Venice offshoots.

One recent gathering in New York City saw demonstrators chanting, "You can have sex with animals!"

The LA City Council is expected to vote on a measure Wednesday that would voice official support for the protesters.
