DOWNEY (CBS) — A man was fatally shot in Downey Wednesday evening.

The shooting occurred at Firestone Boulevard and Old River School Road in Downey shortly before 7 p.m., said Deputy Mark Pope of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.

The victim was declared dead at the scene.

Sheriff’s homicide detectives were sent to help Downey police investigate, Pope said.
