PALM SPRINGS (CBS) — A man was shot multiple times in the chest after arguing with someone in a passing car in a Walmart parking lot, according to officials.

The victim, whose name, age and condition were not released, was shot about 7:20 p.m. Friday, said Palm Springs police Lt. Bryan Reyes.

Police said the victim was walking towards the store’s entrance when he got into an altercation with a man driving a newer-model, dark-colored car.

Authorities said the suspect is still at large.

“At some point during the argument,” relates Reyes, “one of the occupants of the car pulled out a gun and shot the victim multiple times.”

The suspect fled eastbound on Ramon Road.

The victim was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center, according to Reyes.

Police asked anyone with information about the shooting to call the Palm Springs police at (760) 323-8115 or Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-7867.
