Film Studio Complex Approved For Moorpark

MOORPARK (AP) — Hollywood is coming to Ventura County, now that a new film and television studio has gotten the go ahead in Moorpark.

The Ventura County Star reports that after three years of planning, Triliad Development Inc. received unanimous approval from the Moorpark City Council to move forward with the 44-acre facility.

The complex, which will be called Moorpark West Studios, includes 12 sound stages, three office buildings and 1,696 parking spaces.

The newspaper says Thousand Oaks-based Triliad is in the process of finalizing the design and still has to obtain city and state permits.

The city council will vote on the final project on Oct. 19.

Groundbreaking for the $190 million complex could come in spring or summer 2013, with construction taking another year and a half to complete.
