Avalanche defensemen Kyle Cumisky is headed to the Ducks.
DENVER (AP) — The Colorado Avalanche traded defenseman Kyle Cumisky to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for defenseman Jake Newton and a conditional draft pick Saturday.
Cumisky had nine goals and 26 assists in parts of four seasons with the Avalanche. Taken in the seventh round of the 2005 draft, Cumisky was assigned to the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League on Wednesday and waived Friday.
Newton, who was with Anaheim’s AHL team in Syracuse, N.Y., will report to Lake Erie.
