LA Fire Chief Will Perform 120 Hours Of Community Service For 'Inappropriate' Pic

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Los Angeles Fire Chief Brian Cummings said Friday he will perform 120 hours of community service as self-imposed punishment for posing with a bikini-clad woman on a city fire truck 13 years ago.

Cummings said another photo was taken of the woman topless on the truck, but he did not have a copy of that picture.

It was unclear if a copy of the topless photo still exists.

Cummings, who first alerted the mayor, submitted the photo of the bikini-clad woman to the department's professional standards division and asked for the group to conduct an investigation.

He called his part in the photo "irresponsible and inappropriate" and came forward with the picture for "accountability."

"I apologize to the residents of Los Angeles, Mayor Villaraigosa and the brave men and women of the Los Angeles Fire Department for this incident," the chief said.

Villaraigosa called the misstep "serious" but said it does not tarnish Cummings' career.
