Loophole Prevents Disciplinary Action Over Fire Trucks Used In Porn Films

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A legal loophole will protect firefighters who allegedly allowed fire engines to be used as backdrops in pornographic movies from being disciplined, the LAFD chief said Wednesday.

The Los Angeles City Charter prevents the department from disciplining any employee for actions that are more than two years old, Chief Brian Cummings said in a letter to Councilman Dennis Zine, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The chief said both incidents occurred on or before 2008.

One incident involved Engine 263, which is stationed at Firehouse 63 in Venice. The other shoot reportedly occurred in Hollywood.

An investigation was conducted by the Fire Department's Professional Standards Division, which is the equivalent of a police department's Internal Affairs Division.
