RANCHO PALOS VERDES — (CBS) A 16-year-old female passenger was killed Wednesday in a car driven by a friend as both were on their way to attend morning classes at Peninsula High School in Rancho Palos Verdes.

The single-car crash hit a pole.

Investigators at the scene suspected rain-slicked roads were a factor.

They did not say how fast the car was going at the time of the crash.

After 8:30, the accident was reported at Hawthorne Boulevard at Palos Verdes Drive North, said Sgt. Mark Moffett of the Sheriff’s Lomita Station.

The Daily Breeze identified the deceased as Celine Naef of Rolling Hills Estates. Ann Sterling, reporting for KCAL9 and CBS2, identified the driver as the girl’s boyfriend.

Classmates described Naef as “sweet” and “highly motivated,” according to the Daily Breeze.

Rest is peace little girl and thoughts to the family and friends. So young to check out. What a waste. So sorry.

  2. David Nyquist says:

may God bless her soul. May the rest of you kids slow down when its wet.

  3. FAITH says:

My condolences to the family on their loss. Yes, people, pleeeease slow down. On my way to work yesterday, it was raining and there were so many people (mostly young) driving so fast and weaving in and out of traffic. Then again, you have really older people driving like they’re scared and causing accidents as well. Please drive responsibly or don’t drive at all.

  4. Xen says:

It’s not the rain’s fault. There are many factors to consider before blaming this fatality on the rain.

  5. Frisco Kid says:

Will the rain be prosecuted for this death?

  6. Chris says:

It’s not the rains fault….they always have to find blame other than the driver for crashes….I dont get it!

  7. Amanda Vincelli says:

At least she lived a good life before she died.
