Autopsy Performed On 16-Year-Old Cheerleader Who Collapsed At Game
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Officials Wednesday performed an autopsy on 16-year-old Angela Gettis, the cheerleader who collapsed during a game Friday.
Gettis was a popular student at Washington Prep High School.
The official cause of death was deferred until toxicology tests are completed.
Gettis collapsed about 9 p.m. just as her group was finishing up a cheer.
The Los Angeles Fire Department said she was in full cardiac arrest when she was being transported to a hospital.
With minutes to go in the game Friday, Gettis' team had just tied the score when she collapsed. Coaches, trainers, players and her squad all ran to her side.
