2 Mountain Lions Spotted On Front Lawn Of Sierra Madre Home

SIERRA MADRE (CBS) — Two mountain lions were spotted outside a home in Sierra Madre Tuesday, triggering plans to issue a warning to residents.

A man spotted the big cats lounging on his neighbors' lawn at 699 Camillo Rd. around 12:30 a.m., according to Sgt. Joe Ortiz of the Sierra Madre Police Department.

Responding officers chased the animals back into the woods, he said. No one was injured.

The Sierra Madre Police Department, the California Department of Fish and Game and the Pasadena Humane Society were working to develop a safety alert to area residents based on Tuesday morning's sighting, Ortiz said.

The alert -- similar to warnings about bears -- will inform residents how to keep themselves and their property safe from mountain lions.
