Pumas Beat America 1-0

MEXICO CITY (AP) -- Luis Fuentes scored the only goal as defending champion Pumas beat Mexico City rivals America 1-0 to move top of the Mexican Apertura standings after 11 rounds.

Pumas have 20 points, with second-place Jaguares on 19 after only managing a 1-1 draw against last-place Atlas.

On Sunday, Javier Gandolfi scored a late equalizer for Tijuana in a 1-1 draw against Tigres, which moved to 18 points in third place. Cruz Azul and Chivas are also on 18 points after both lost 1-0 at the weekend.

Cruz Azul was beaten by Santos and Chivas went down to Queretaro.
