Tropical Depression Hillary Bringing Weather Changes To SoCal
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Increasing cloud cover rolled on into the Southland Friday bringing with it a change in the weather.
Remnants of Tropical Depression Hillary were to blame for showers and lightening activity across parts of the region. Hillary weakened off the west coast of Mexico two days ago.
Thunder and rain were reported in West Los Angeles, Burbank, Garden Grove and Marina del Rey.
The National Weather Service says isolated showers and thunderstorms also developed over the southern portion of Los Angeles County and are expected to move north into the Santa Monica Mountains and the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys over the next several hours.
The storms are moving at about 20-25 mph and are "bringing brief, moderate, gusty winds, lighting and thunder," spokesman Bill Hoffer said. "The storm is a work in progress."
Hoffer said the system is expected to drop isolated rain showers and bring cooler temperatures through Saturday. More rain and cool air are also likely toward the middle of next week, he said.
The California Highway Patrol says they have not received any weather-related incident reports.
