Judge Orders Psych Evaluation For Mom Accused Of Tossing Baby From Structure
SANTA ANA (AP) — A judge has ordered a psychological evaluation for a mother accused of tossing her 7-month-old disabled son from a hospital parking structure, killing him.
Sonia Hermosillo was to have entered a plea Friday in Santa Ana on charges of murder and felony child abuse but was instead assigned two court-appointed psychologists.

The doctors will tell the court on Nov. 18 whether she is able to assist in her defense.
The 31-year-old has been in custody since her arrest on Aug. 22.
Hermosillo's husband says his wife suffers from post-partum depression and was distraught that their son had a medical condition that required him to wear a helmet.
Prosecutors say Hermosillo removed the helmet before tossing the baby off the parking structure at the Children's Hospital of Orange County.
