Multiple Stabbings At High School In South Gate; School On Lockdown

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Five people were hurt on Friday after a student attacked a classmate at a South Gate high school.

A male student came to South East High School armed with a knife and stabbed a female classmate during a lunchtime argument at approximately 11:05 a.m., Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent John Deasy said.

A female dean and another male student intervened and were also stabbed by the suspect. A campus police officer was also injured in the back, Deasy said.

The female student was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. The campus police officer was also treated, officials said.

Students say the female victim is the suspect’s ex-girlfriend.

The suspect — whom LAUSD officials confirmed as a student at the school — is now in custody with minor injuries, according to officials.

The school was placed an a precautionary lockdown to secure the crime scene until shortly before 1 p.m., officials said.

High schools in UTAH issue CCW”S for qualified teachers to be armed while teaching, all states should consider arming certain staff members, bt the time the cops are called from the donut shop,t’, too late.

Are they still called schools where students learn or are they considered miniature prisons where teachers are guards and some “qualified teachers” are riot/extraction squads?

UTAH has “qualified” teachers that has CCW (Carry Concealed Weapon)? Why don’t they issue bullet proof vest on teachers also. Should they start designing schools like bunkers?

Do you want to LESSEN the violent nature of students? Start teaching religion in public schools. Band violence in movies and computer games. Arming teachers is not the solution. You don’t think this realistic? Well, you better start training teachers on how to use M-16s because violence will just become worse was violence in the mass media increase.

If violence as a means of entertainment is a HUGE business. Parents needs to be encouraged to use the “old school” way of keeping children busy. There is gardening, sports, hiking, picnics, handicrafts, etc.

You probably laughing right now thinking that those things were done centuries ago. Well, my friend, you have not seen the benefits of simple but effective way to be productive and entertained. Many old school way is the best way because it does not promote violence.

Joe well said. so many of these tough guys want to escalate when they should try teaching the old school way. it starts with respect for others & caring for others before themselves, these morons want to teach more bad things. they want to make sure these kids will make it to prison where they will just become victims. i once gave 13 of my best years to the system & because i felt sorry for these kids i would protect them, but most of the real cons would of just used them as victims. people please keep your kids out of those places. teach them the right way , take a little time out of your busy lives to ensure your sons & daughters are on the right track. do not let them become part of the system. .

i went to that school for 2 yrs and i never seen anything like that happen when i was going there i have seen fights and drugs but never anybody getting stabb i just hope that LAUSD do somthing abut it cuz its not the 1st time somthing happens in a high school in South Gate cuz South Gate High School
there was a shotting the and a kid got shot so i thing that they sould put SECURITY as they start school cuz now the girl is die

My condolences to Cindi Santana’s family. This tragic event is a case of dating abuse. Dating abuse can happen in any school or any neighborhood. It happens to people of all races, ages, and backgrounds. I hope this tragic occurrence will raise people’s awareness.
