Juninho's Extra Time Goal Keeps Galaxy Alive At Champions League

CARSON, Calif. (CBS/AP) -- Juninho scored the game-winner in stoppage time to give the Los Angeles Galaxy a thrilling 2-1 victory over Morelia on Wednesday night in Champions League play.

Landon Donovan sent in a corner kick that Chad Barrett played with his head to Juninho, who finished with a volley to move the Galaxy into a tie for first place in the Group A standings.

Mike Magee scored in the 21st minute for the Galaxy, who played without their two international stars, David Beckham and Robbie Keane.

Rafael Marquez Lugo evened the score for Morelia in the 61st minute courtesy of a defensive letdown. Bryan Jordan attempted to slide the ball away, but it instead rolled to the center of the box. Josh Saunders was forced to come off his line and got a hand on the ball initially before Marquez Lugo prevailed amid a cluster of players.

Costa Rica's Alajuelense has 9 points, tied with Galaxy and Morelia, will play for first place in the group as they'll face Hondura's Motagua Thursday night.

Galaxy's final game of the group stage is on October 20 against pointless Motagua.
