FBI Helps LAPD Nab Wanted Homicide Suspect In Kansas City
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The FBI aided the Los Angeles Police Department in the capture of a murder suspect wanted for a January 3rd homicide, officials said Wednesday.
Jamurl "JMac" Scott, 32, was arrested in Kansas City, according to Los Angeles Police Detective Sal LaBarbera.
Police believed Scott fled to Kansas City shortly after committing the murder.
LaBarbera said, "It was a straight gang shooting."
Scott is reportedly a member of the Franklin Square Crips.
Scott is accused of murdering gang rival Louis Smith, 33. He died a day after being gunned down outside Chinese Express, a restaurant in the 1500 block of East 103rd, the detective said.
Smith was with his girlfriend at the time of the slaying. Witnesses told police that the gunman shouted a gang slogan before the shooting.
Scott was returned to LA Tuesday and is being held in lieu of $2 million bail.
