Deputies Investigating Possible Murder-Suicide At A Jurupa Valley High School

JURUPA VALLEY (CBS) — A man shot a woman Wednesday then turned the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide attempt at a Riverside County high school.

The shooting occurred around 10:40 a.m. in the parking lot of Patriot High School at 4355 Camino Real in Jurupa Valley, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

The man and women were involved in altercation in front of the school, deputies said.

The man died at the scene. The female victim, who was a volunteer at the school, was transported to Riverside Community Hospital in an unknown condition, officials said.

The motive and the relationship between the man and woman is unknown. Their names have not been released.

The school was placed on lockdown as deputies investigated. It was later declared secure at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday.
