(CBS) — Vladimir Guerrero’s single in the sixth inning of the Baltimore Orioles game against the Boston Red Sox gave him 2,587 career hits, giving him more hits than any other Dominican-born MLB player in history.

Julio Franco who played from 1982-2007 had 2,586 hits in his career.

Guerrero is 3rd among Dominican’s in HRs with 449. (Sammy Sosa – 609, Manny Ramirez – 555)

1,034 of those hits came as a member of the Angels.
