Hemet Boy, 14, Gunned Down On Perris Sidewalk

PERRIS (CBS) — A 14-year-old Hemet boy was killed Sunday morning after being shot, according to officials with the sheriff's and coroner's offices.

Deputies responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call just after 12:05 in the 1700 block of Glenview Driver, said sheriff's Sgt. Todd Torrenti.

The officers found "a male juvenile, lying on the sidewalk, suffering from a gunshot wound," Torrenti said.

Paramedics were called but the teen was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:22 a.m., according to the coroner.

The boy's identity was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

Deputies asked anyone with information about the crime to call the sheriff's Central Homicide Unit at (951) 955-2777 or the Perris Police Department at (951) 210-1000.
