Gardena Woman, 41, Fatally Struck While Crossing PCH

MALIBU (CBS) — A 41-year-old woman from Gardena was struck and killed by a vehicle while crossing the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

The accident happened about 10:25 p.m. Saturday along the PCH and Sunset Boulevard.

The motorist, identified as 33-year-old Brian Jones of Los Altos, was heading southbound in his 2005 Ford Escape when he struck the victim as she tried to cross the highway eastbound.

According to police, she was not in the crosswalk at the time of the accident.

The woman was taken to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Westwood, where she was pronounced dead at 11:34 p.m., police said.

Police said the driver has not been arrested. It's still not known if speed was a factor.
