PALM SPRINGS (CBS) — Crews Sunday were battling a brush fire that has scorched 300 acres near Palm Springs.
As of 8:30 a.m. Sunday, the Windy Point Fire was 10 percent contained. The fire started along Highway 111 near Overture Drive about 6:50 p.m. Saturday, Bureau of Land Management spokeswoman Kristen Allison said.
“It’s very steep and rugged terrain, and we have 35 mph winds,” Allison said.
No injuries or damage have been reported and no structures were believed to be threatened.
Highway 111 remains closed between Tram Road and Overture.
