LA Area Traffic Ranked 17th Worst In The Nation

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Southland traffic can be aggravating when you're stuck on the freeway, but a new survey says it's not so bad.

The American Community Survey found LA-Orange county have the 17th worst traffic among metropolitan areas.

The average commute to work takes about 28 minutes. That's only 3 minutes longer than the national average.

The worst commute is in the New York-New Jersey area, with 34 minutes. Washington, DC is second.

Los Angeles  ranked lower this year, because for the first time, the survey split it from the inland empire.

Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario ranks 8th worst in the U.S.
