Efforts Fail To Revive Emaciated Horse Found Tied To Ontario Tree

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A severely emaciated horse found tied to a bush in Ontario has been euthanized after officials' failed to revive the animal.

The 20-year-old mare was found collapsed in her stall Thursday morning, the Associated Press reported.

A call to the Inland Valley Humane Society led investigators to the mare nicknamed "Mommas" in Ontario, where she was found with no food and water.

The horse, which would normally weigh approximately 1,100 pounds was down to nearly 750 pounds with her rib cage protruding from her belly.

Police are searching for the owner, who could be charged with felony animal cruelty, according to the Associated Press.
