Efforts Fail To Revive Emaciated Horse Found Tied To Ontario Tree

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A severely emaciated horse found tied to a bush in Ontario has been euthanized after officials’ failed to revive the animal.

The 20-year-old mare was found collapsed in her stall Thursday morning, the Associated Press reported.

A call to the Inland Valley Humane Society led investigators to the mare nicknamed “Mommas” in Ontario, where she was found with no food and water.

The horse, which would normally weigh approximately 1,100 pounds was down to nearly 750 pounds with her rib cage protruding from her belly.

Police are searching for the owner, who could be charged with felony animal cruelty, according to the Associated Press.

anybody that’s cruel to animals are same kind of chit that would force rape their own mother and sale their children for $2.50.

Horrible, horrible , horrible. It is so sad to see what was allowed to happen to this beautiful creature. Growing up, we had horses as backyard pets that were part of the family. I find this complete disregard for life sickening, particularly for an animal that has nothing but trust in her caregivers. I hope that officials identify the individual that did this and prosecute him/her to the fullest extent of the law.

That is seriously discussing! Why would take on an animal like a horse and then not do the right thing and take care of it. It is the responsibility of the owner to do so. I know the economy is bad right now, but if you love your animals then you need to protect them or at least get them help if you can take care of them anymore – not tire them to a bush and watch them slowly die. Or better yet – did this owner just drive away expecting someone else to fix their problem. I don’t care what side of the isle you are on, but animal cruelty is awful. I hope that they find the owner as well as anyone else who was around the animal that did nothing and let them suffer the same fate as the poor horse.

Sometimes the punishment should fit the crime. I’d tie the SOB to a bush and let him see what dying of hunger and thirst feels like. Only not the same bush as the horse. I’d pick one on that street in Santa Any where the bees are attacking passersby. And if anyone thinks starving the monster is too cruel, they could always toss him some honey.

Man I sure hope the loser responsible is made to pay for this.

There is a special kind of hell for whoever did this to her :( my heart goes out to the poor creature and to whoever did this, you will rot I promise you, the rest of your life on earth is not worth living and your afterlife will be far worse!

Looking at the picture of this poor mare, it was probably a blessing when they let her go. When any body is starved to the extent she looks like, all the organs begin to shut down because the body has been absorbing them for substinance anyway. At that point, no amount of food or water is going to bring you back.

Poor thing. No living thing deserves to be treated this way.
