Missoni Madness! Target's Nearly Sold Out Collection Hits eBay

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — If you're one of the millions of shoppers who missed out on the limited launch of the "Missoni for Target" collection, you can still snag up some of Tuesday's biggest sellers.

Some of lucky few who waited outside for stores to open — or were able to navigate the retail giant's Web site through a major crash and intermittent outages — are now selling clothing and home goods on eBay.

Items such as the sleeveless sweater dress in Missoni's signature zigzag print retailed for just $59.99, but are now being resold for more than three times that amount.

While some items are still available online, most merchandise sold out by Tuesday afternoon.

KNX 1070's Jon Baird reports that the Target in Eagle Rock received a new shipment that shoppers were eager to get their hands on.

Crowds waited outside for hours Tuesday at the Valencia store, where more than $30,000 in Missoni swag was snagged up by 10 a.m.

It was the same story at Target stores across the Southland, and shoppers took to Facebook and Twitter to voice their frustrations.

"Missoni stuff is a madhouse. Got one pair of shoes. Saw people with heaps. Including Mena Suvari," Lindsey from Los Angeles wrote. "I literally got there 10 minutes after it opened. Everything gone. It was insanity. The website is even down now."

Target confirms Tuesday's launch appealed to more online shoppers than Black Friday – the company's (former) busiest day of the year.
