LAPD Searches For Parolee On The Run Near Venice Pier

VENICE (CBS) - A large number of Los Angeles Police Department officers were searching for a parolee on the run in Venice beach Tuesday night.

The search began about 9 p.m. along the beach south of the Venice Pier. Officers set up a search perimeter bound by Washington Boulevard on the north, Driftwood Street to the south, Strongs Drive to the east and Pacific Avenue to the west, LAPD spokesperson Karen Rayner said.

Rayner said she did not know what the parolee had done, but "with a parolee you have to assume he's armed and dangerous and you ask for backups."
