2 Suspects Robbed During Botched Burglary In Venice

VENICE (CBS) — Two would-be burglars, who broke into a Venice home, were manhandled and had their identification taken before they were eventually arrested, authorities said.

The break-in occurred about 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Vernon Avenue. Los Angeles police Sgt. Joel Sydanma said the suspects were confronted by two burly men identified as friends of the homeowner.

"They basically robbed the robbers, took their IDs," he said.

Police were alerted to the crime about 2:40 a.m., after the two suspects fled. The area was sealed off and the two were caught less than an hour later, according to police.

The suspects' names were unavailable pending booking.
