Hemet Woman Allegedly Robs Convenience Store With Toy Gun
LAKE ELSINORE (CBS) — A Hemet woman is behind bars on suspicion of robbing a gas station convenience store with a toy gun, a sheriff's department spokesman said Saturday.
Lake Elsinore police officers were called to a Chevron Gas Station in the 31600 block of Mission Trail near Diamond Drive about 6:49 p.m. Friday after an apparent armed robbery.
According to Sheriff's Sgt. John Carlberg, the clerk told authorities the woman had entered the store, walked to the register with merchandise, showed a gun under her shirt and left the store with the merchandise.
Carlberg said authorities were able to apprehend a woman matching the clerk's suspect description at a bus stop. They allegedly found a black toy gun in her purse.
The suspect, identified by authorities as 34-year-old Porschia Jhonette Napalan, was arrested and booked into the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of armed robbery, Carlberg said.
Her bail has been set at $25,000.
