SAN BERNARDINO (CBS) — A missing hiker has been found after he was spotted by a helicopter search crew Friday.
About two dozen deputies in San Bernardino County were looking Friday for Bryan Gutierrez, 30, of Chino, who was reported missing late Thursday night.
Officials say Gutierrez was hiking in Forest Falls Thursday with a group of hikers who were attempting the 8,000 Meter Challenge to climb the three tallest peaks in Southern California within a 24-hour period.
The group had successfully climbed the first two peaks, but on the way down from San Gorgonio, Gutierrez got lost.
“I missed the turn and went way too far,” he said.
Gutierrez spent the night in a hollowed-out log.
“It was scary. It was cold,” he added.
The Chino man was found in relatively good condition Friday around 2 p.m.
