Artesia Man, 29, Convicted Of Kidnapping, Sexually Assaulting 3 Underage Girls

SANTA ANA (CBS) — An Artesia man has been convicted of kidnapping, attempted kidnapping and sexual assault charges, in separate incidents with three underage girls.

Orange County district attorney spokeswoman Farrah Emami says 29-year-old Alfredo Granados Canchola was found guilty of five felonies for crimes committed over a 5-month period in 2009.

Canchola was convicted of two felonies for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl.

He was found guilty of two more felonies after kidnapping and committing a lewd act on a 13-year-old.

Emami says Canchola attempted to kidnap a 10-year-old to commit a sexual offense, but the girl was able to run away and tell her father, who called 911 with Canchola's description.

Canchola faces a minimum of 40 years to life in prison when he's slated to be sentenced Oct. 28.
