Strasburg Makes Start Against Dodgers

WASHINGTON (CBS/AP) -- Steven Strasburg has made his season debut after returning from Tommy John surgery on August 21 of last season.

His first pitches of the game were a pair of 96 MPH fastballs.

He gave up one single and a scoreless first inning.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have also called up catcher Tim Federowicz, right-hander John Ely and outfielder-infielder Jerry Sands from Triple-A Albuquerque.

The three joined the Dodgers on Tuesday in Washington. Federowicz was acquired from Boston at the July 31 trade deadline. His first game will mark his major league debut. The
24-year-old catcher hit .325 with six home runs and 17 RBIs for Albuquerque.

The 25-year-old Ely was 0-1 with a 6.23 ERA in two games for the Dodgers earlier this season. He was 7-8 with a 5.99 ERA in 25 starts for Albuquerque.

The 23-year-old Sands hit .200 with two homers and 17 RBIs in 41 games for the Dodgers earlier this year. He hit 29 homers and drove in 88 runs in 94 games for Albuquerque.
