Funeral Held For 7-Month-Old Thrown From Parking Structure

LA HABRA (AP) — A funeral has been held for a 7-month-old baby whose mother is accused of throwing him from an Orange County hospital building's parking structure.

The Orange County Register says services for Noe Medina Jr. were held Wednesday at a La Habra church.

On Aug. 22, the boy plummeted from the fourth story of a parking structure at Children's Hospital of Orange County.

The boy had physical problems and wore a corrective helmet. Prosecutors say 31-year-old Sonia Hermosillo removed it before dropping him.

She's charged with murder and assault and could face 25 years to life in prison if convicted.

Her husband says Hermosillo had postpartum depression and didn't want the boy because she considered him abnormal.

At a Monday hearing, defense attorney Charles Hasse described Hermosillo as only marginally coherent.
