Ex-Laker Crittenton Waives Right To Extradition In Murder Of Atlanta Woman

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Former Lakers guard Javaris Crittenton has waived his right to an extradition hearing and will be taken to Atlanta to face a murder charge stemming from the shooting death of a 22-year-old woman.

Crittenton, who was arrested Monday night at John Wayne Airport, is expected to be picked up by Atlanta authorities by Sept. 15. He will remain jailed without bail pending his transfer.

KNX 1070's Jon Baird reports.

Crittenton, 23, was wanted for the Aug. 19 shooting of 22-year-old Jullian Jones, a mother of four young children. Atlanta police say Jones was walking with two men when she was shot and they believe one of the men with her was the target.

Police believe the motive was retaliation for a robbery in April, in which Crittenton was a victim.

The Lakers drafted Crittenton in 2007. He was later traded to the Memphis Grizzles and went on to play for the Washington Wizards. He hasn't played in the NBA since 2009.
