Husband Critical, Wife Stable After Group Bike Riders Are Struck By Vehicle

LANCASTER (CBS) — Two bicyclists -- a husband and wife -- were injured in a crash while participating in a group ride in Lancaster, sheriff's officials said.

The collision occurred Saturday afternoon at Avenue L and Fourth Street West, according to the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

The husband suffered head trauma and is in critical condition, according to authorities. The wife is in stable condition with what was described as "moderate injuries."

At the time of the crash, a group of about 20 cyclists was crossing the intersection along with a motorist in a minivan, officials said. A motorist in a PT Cruiser struck the minivan, pushing the vehicle into the path where the cyclists were riding.

All the riders were wearing helmets, officials said.
