Oxnard Woman, 23, Pleads Not Guilty In Hit-And-Run Crash That Killed 17-Year-Old Chatsworth High Senior

VAN NUYS (CBS) — A 23-year-old woman pleaded not guilty Friday to charges that she hit-and-ran after fatally striking a 17-year-old standout Chatsworth High senior in April.

Dominique Marie Rush of Oxnard remains jailed on $100,000 bail while awaiting her next court appearance in October.

She is accused of hitting 17-year-old German Alex Romero who was riding his bike on DeSoto Avenue just north of Valerio Street when the crash occurred on April 20. Romero was popular with classmates and a soccer star, according to friends.

Rush is charged with two felony counts: vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident.

Prosecutors also allege Rush's 44-year-old father, Steven, tried to conceal the crime.

He was arrested earlier this month at his home in Porter Ranch and is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday on two felony counts of being an accessory after the fact.
