Big Rig Driver Killed In Crash On The 5 Freeway

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A big rig driver was killed Thursday when his vehicle crashed near Pyramid Lake in northern Los Angeles County.

Officials said the unidentified motorist was driving north when when the crash occurred near Vista del Lago Road just before 3 p.m.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck crossed over the center divider before the crash, according to the CHP.

The driver’s cargo, including lemons and limes, spilled across the freeway.

i was there at the scene when it happened. i was riding a bus to los angeles, we were directly behind the truck when it swerved and flipped. it was pretty horrifying to see what had happen to the front of the truck. completely crushed and mangled. as everyone was running to help the truck driver, some of the bus passenger was able to see if the truck driver was fine. i just heard from one of them that the driver was mangled and twisted up as well. its really sad, but i’m glad our bus did not get involve in the accident.

Our cousin Frank was the Driver on the big rig a tragic loss to our family. A Father of 2 children with a child to be born in a few months. Thank you for the info we Are praying that he Died instantaneous for what you describe we Hope he didn’t suffer.We are glad no one else was hurt in this accident. We love you Frank Arias.
