Jesse Garay, 59, was stabbed after a fight with Sim around 7:30 p.m. Friday while on the Red Line that had stopped at LA Metro's Hollywood/Vine Station.

Garay, of North Hollywood, died of his injuries. It was the first ever death on any Los Angeles subway line.

Sim was booked on a probation violation and is being held without bail. Officials say murder charges against him are pending.

Sheriff's officials say the investigation is ongoing.
