STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Actress and philanthropist Azita Ghanizada is the female lead of SyFy’s highly-anticipated new show “Alphas.” She stopped by KCAL9 Monday to talk about her new role on the hit show and her incredible journey to the United States.
Ghanizada fled Afghanistan as a child refugee to the United States, where she was granted asylum to stay. She is currenly the only Afghan American actress in the U.S.
She is actively involved with the UNHCR, UN Refugee Agency and fundraisers to support relief efforts for Afghan and Pakistani flood victims of the Pakistan flood. She also led the “Walk on the Bridge” in NYC for the 100th Anniversary of Women’s Day.
