American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing At LAX

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — An American Airlines flight had to make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport Sunday after its pilot reported a problem with the plane's landing gear.

The flight, originating from Louisville, Ky., safely landed on the airport's southernmost runway about 2:40 a.m. with firefighters on stand by, authorities said.

Officials say the problem was reported in the plane's right landing gear and the pilot dumped jet fuel over the ocean in preparation for the landing.

No one was injured.

An American Airlines spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.
