2 Killed When Car Slams Into Power Pole In Chatsworth

WEST HILLS (CBS) — Authorities Sunday said two people were killed when their car struck a power pole and fire hydrant in Chatsworth.

The single-vehicle crash involving a white 2006 Scion TC sedan was reported at 3:05 a.m. at Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Lassen Street, Los Angeles police Officer Kenneth Franco said.

The victims, identified as a 29-year-old male driver and 24-year-old female passenger, died at the scene, police said. Their names have not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The downed pole cut service to 771 Department of Water and Power customers.

Power was fully restored about 12:45 p.m., utility spokeswoman Gale Harris said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities at (877) LAPD-247.
