KNX 1070's Pete Demetriou reports.

While conducting a search of the property, deputies made a morbid discovery: 24 granite headstones, weighing 200 pounds each, scattered in the backyard. The headstones correspond to graves that had been disturbed at the Montecito Cemetery in Colton, sheriff's officials said.

The stolen headstones are valued at $48,000.

John Bleuer, Steve Hansen, Lisa Jackson and Louis Anchelowitz were charged with possession of stolen property. The four suspects are also charged with possession of narcotic and methamphetamine sales.

Officials say the investigation is ongoing and are hoping that the relatives of the deceased will claim the grave stones so that they may be returned to the cemetery. Anyone with information about the suspects or headstones is urged to call the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department at (909) 387-3545.
