Couples Says Woods Needs To Play More To Make Presidents Cup Team

HARRISON, N.Y. (AP) -- U.S. captain Fred Couples says Tiger Woods is going to have to play more tournaments before he gets t0 Australia to be part of the Presidents Cup team.

Woods missed the cut in the PGA Championship and did not qualify for the FedEx Cup playoffs. That means he is ineligible for any PGA Tour competition for the next six weeks.

Couples announces his two captain's picks on Sept. 26 after the Tour Championship, and he has said he intends to take Woods.

But he said Wednesday at the Senior Players Championship that Woods just can't show up in Australia a week before the matches.

Woods could still add Fall Series event or play other tours around the world. Couples says he is talking to Woods' agent about
options.
