Store Owner Shot In Head During Arlington Heights Armed Robbery

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — An Arlington Heights store owner was shot in the head during an armed robbery, police said.

The robbers entered Botanica Indio de Samajat at 1322 2nd Ave. near Pico Boulevard around 9 p.m. Monday, Los Angeles police said. The store sells religious items.

The store owner, whose name was not immediately released, was shot in the head during the robbery. Police say the victim's 24-year-old son was also in the store at the time of the crime.

The store owner was "taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for treatment and remains in serious but stable condition this morning," Sgt. Mike Ventura said.

The robbers fled with $4,500 in cash in a black Chevrolet Tahoe whose plates had been removed, Ventura said.

Police were able to review surveillance video of the suspects and the crime.

Anyone with information on the robbery was urged to call the LAPD's Wilshire Station at (213) 473-0476. All tips can be made anonymously.
