Man Arrested At LAX After Loaded Gun Found In Carry-On

EL SEGUNDO (CBS/AP) — Police say a 25-year-old Alabama man has been arrested after federal authorities discovered a loaded handgun in his carry-on bag as he passed through a security checkpoint at Los Angeles International Airport.

Airport police spokeswoman Belinda Nettles says Joshua Banks was arrested Tuesday morning on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm -- a 38-caliber pistol.

Banks had purchased a ticket for a flight to Dallas and was taken into custody at the American Airlines terminal.

Banks was taken to the airport police station for preliminary processing and booked at the LAPD's Pacific Division jail.
