Kuroda Silences Astros As Dodgers Complete Sweep
(CBS) -- Matt Kemp slugged his 28th homer of the season and SS Justin Sellers crushed his first career blast, helping Hiroki Kuroda and the Dodgers sweep the Houston Astros on Sunday, 7-0.
It was just the third time this season the Dodgers scored more than three runs for Kuroda (8-14), who turned in another spectacular performance, going seven scoreless innings allowing four hits and striking out six.
Kuroda pitched with an early lead, Dioner Navarro took Jordan Lyles deep for a two-run shot in the second inning, and Kemp followed in the third inning with a homer of his own giving the Dodgers a 3-0 lead.
Los Angeles added four more runs in the sixth, capped by Sellers' three-run shot that landed deep into the Dodgers bullpen.
The small announced crowd of 36,339 gave Sellers a standing ovation when the rookie tipped his cap on his curtain call.
