6 Homes Evacuated After Gas Line Leak In Banning

BANNING (CBS) — Six homes were evacuated in Banning Saturday when a natural gas line ruptured on West Williams Street, a fire department spokeswoman said.

Construction workers reportedly broke a three-quarter-inch natural gas line during construction at 12:09 p.m., fire department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann said.

"The Banning Police Department was assisting with the precautionary evacuation of six homes in the immediate area while repairs were made by the gas company," Hagemann said. "No injuries were reported."
