Rapper 'The Game' Under Investigation After Tweeting LA Sheriff's Phone Number

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The rapper known as 'The Game' was under investigation Saturday for allegedly jamming telephone lines at the sheriff's Compton Station.

He reportedly encouraged his hundreds of thousands of Twitter followers to call a telephone number if they wanted an internship with him.

Jayceon Terrell Taylor, 31, was not arrested, but sheriff's deputies opened a criminal investigation regarding what prompted an outbreak of calls to the station at about 5:30 p.m. Friday.

"These needless phone calls interfered with the ability of sheriff's desk personnel to answer the business line phones and 911 calls, and for dispatchers to send help to people who really needed it," sheriff's spokesman Capt. Mike Parker said.

Taylor denied the allegations and said his Twitter account had been hacked.

Eventually, the sheriff's spokesman, Parker, tweeted Taylor to tell him to knock it off.

A missing person, spousal assault, two robberies and a stolen vehicle
were delayed during the phone calls, according to Sheriff's Headquarters.
