Police Investigating Double Homicide In Chatsworth

CHATSWORTH (CBS) — Police are investigating the death of a man and woman whose bodies were found in a Chatsworth home Saturday.

Police were notified of the death in the area of Oso Avenue and Lassen Street around 6 a.m., said Los Angeles police Sgt. Jose Valley of the Devonshire station.

He confirmed that there was a double homicide at the location.

Valley declined when asked to disclose what kind of call prompted officers to the location, saying that information "would compromise the investigation."

He also refused to say if the man and woman were found in an apartment unit or residence.

"Right now, we're in the preliminary stages of the investigation. We don't want to say anything that may compromise the investigation," he said.

Ann Sterling, reporting for CBS2, said police were unusually tight-lipped. She did say the bodies were decomposed.

The home has been a senior care facility and day care center at various times, according to neighbors.

The current tenants so mysterious, some residents told Sterling they didn't even know the house was occupied, believing it was empty and on the market.
