Police Hunt Sexual Battery Suspect In Bell Gardens

BELL GARDENS (CBS) — Police in Bell Gardens are on the lookout for a man they say has been sexually battering and accosting women before fleeing on a mountain bike.

They say the suspect, who has struck several times between May and July, has grabbed buttocks, breasts and groin areas.

His victims have ranged in age from 16-45, according to authorities.

Bell Gardens Police Sgt. Benjamin Sotelo says when the suspect strikes, it's often several times on the same day.

The suspect sometimes spoke to his victims and smiled if eye contact was made, added Sotelo.

The suspect is described as having a light or olive complexion. He is about 30-40 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches to 6 feet tall with a medium to stocky build, say the victims.

They said he was generally clean in appearance "and not a transient or gang type," said Sotelo.

Most often he wore light-colored shirts and light-colored shorts or pants.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to call police at (562) 806-7600 or (866) 611-2473.
