LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The mayor of Los Angeles is tag-teaming with some of the biggest stars in pro wrestling to tackle the problem of bullies in local schools.

KNX 1070’s John Brooks reports Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on Friday attended the WWE SummerSlam Day of Service at the Algin Sutton Recreation Centerto help promote “Be a Star: Show Tolerance and Respect”.

WWE wrestler Ray Mysterio — whose real name is Oscar Gutierrez — says bullies should never be tolerated in the ring or in the classroom.

“They’re the bad guys but it’s a role that they play,” said Mysterio. “There is a ‘good vs. evil’ and that’s what we intend to demonstrate on TV.”

Villaraigosa said he was pleased to see Mysterio and other wrestling stars using their celebrity for a great cause.

“We know there are too many kids who are bullied in our schools, who are beaten up,” he said.
